Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity Build-A-Thon
In November of 2013, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles brought together 1000 volunteers to revitalize a neighborhood in the City of Lynwood during its Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity Build-A-Thon. The event also engaged and recognized veterans for their contribution to our country in honor of Veterans Day. The 2014 Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity low income housing Build-A-Thon is scheduled for November 6-8, 2014. Click to view photos from last year’s event.
Power Women Power Tools
Power Women Power Tools (PWPT) is an annual invitation‐only, all‐women build event hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles and is a part of our Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity program. Women from all walks of life come together during this special build event in Los Angeles to build homes for families and individuals in need of decent, sustainable and affordable housing.
Many of the volunteers at PWPT are corporate executives from Fortune 500 companies, faith community leaders and elected officials, production companies, and the music industry, as well as the cast and crew of several TV shows and feature films. Every year the event attracts women who join together to make a difference building homes and leave feeling inspired and empowered. Cause for Celebration – Groundbreakings, Kickoff’s and Dedications
Groundbreaking, Wall Raising, Kickoff’s and Dedications: Nearly every Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) home begins with a Groundbreaking, Kick-off or Wall-raising ceremony which is a symbolic representation of new opportunities and hope.
Dedications: Following the completion of the Habitat LA build, the site is dedicated and presented to the new partner homeowners. The celebration of the completion of the build and the beginning of life in a new home is a very special celebration for funding and community partners, volunteers, staff and the new homeowners.

Palos Verdes Ride for Habitat
The Palos Verdes Ride for Habitat was held in April of 2012 and 2013. Riders enjoyed a 17-mile, 34-mile or 50-mile bike ride through the scenic Palos Verdes Peninsula while helping to raise money for Habitat LA. All funds raised supported hardworking, low-income families and individuals on their journey toward homeownership in the greater Los Angeles area!
Dawn to Dusk Golf Marathon
Golfers compete in a golf adventure with a humanitarian twist in the Dawn to Dusk (D2D) Golf Marathon. In the first three years, D2D raised nearly $300,000 funding the building of two homes. Habitat LA golfers tee-off at dawn and play as many holes as possible before dark. There is no cost to participate but each player is asked to raise pledges from their own contacts.
It is always a great day with an abundance of food, drink, chair massages and prizes. There are prizes for the players that raise the most money, play the most holes, and more. Each player receives a gift bag and is automatically entered in a drawing. Check back to see details for the next D2D Golf Marathon.
Art/House is a fine art event and silent art auction. World-renowned artists and rising art stars contribute their finest work to Art/House. Auction bids start at a fraction of the actual value, so guests can easily acquire highly desirable works of art, and at the same time support the important work of Habitat LA. Guests enjoy fine food, cocktails and music.
Also, many of the participating artists attend, giving guests the rare opportunity to meet some of today’s most exciting artists, all in one fabulous, fun evening! Check back to see our plans for 2013.
