Habitat LA’s Home Preservation Program aims to alleviate critical health and safety issues for low income homeowners in our greater Los Angeles service area.  Habitat LA partners with homeowners each year as funding becomes available. Eligible homeowners can receive assistance with interior and exterior home repairs including exterior painting, accessibility modifications, window, door and roof replacements, landscaping, and more.

Homeowners pay for these repair services through one of two affordable repayment plans. Homeowners may either make an affordable one-time payment or agree to a forgivable loan.  One-time payments are equal to 3% of the total project costs and would be no greater than $450 total. The 0% interest, forgivable loan requires no down payment or monthly payment - homeowners repay the total project costs if they sell, transfer or re-finance their home. After seven years, the loan is completely forgiven. Repayment funds are recycled and used to assist future low-income homeowners in need of repairs. Homeowners must also be willing to contribute 24 Sweat Equity hours throughout the duration of their repair project.
