VolunteerOffice and Special Projects
Do you have a few morning or afternoon hours to spare? Volunteer at our business office and see how Habitat for Humanity works from the inside-out! Volunteers are needed to answer phones, maintain the volunteer database, help with mailings and assist on other projects.
Construction Department VolunteerImprove the function of the construction office and the Housing Center for Excellence operations. Provide general administrative support, including filing, answering phones and general organization. Commit to 4 hours a day at least 2 days a week (Monday through Friday), more if availability permits. Please send a brief description of your skills and why you would like to volunteer to Nicole Kunzik at volunteers@habitatla.org. Provide Lunch to Volunteers on SitePrepare and bring lunch to our hardworking volunteers on our sites. Volunteers work up quite an appetite; bring sandwiches, chips, fruit, cookies and other site friendly food to get them fueled and ready for the afternoon. Please be prepared to bring at least 25 lunches. Sign up to provide lunch to one or more sites Tuesday through Saturday by contacting Deborah Lewis at dlewis@habitatla.org. Prepare Baked Goods for Committee MeetingsBring baked goods to our various committee meetings. Committees meet regularly at our office in Gardena and we would love to recognize their contribution by providing them something sweet to eat. If you're more experienced with mixing bowls than a paint brush we can put your skills to good use! Contact Deborah Lewis at dlewis@habitatla.org to find out when the next committee meeting is. PhotographerCapture the work of our volunteers as they build homes for families in need and showcase the work that we're doing. All that's needed is an eye for the shot and a digital camera. Sign up under the Photographer role online. Photographers will need to send their pictures electronically to Deborah Lewis at dlewis@habitatla.org. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Site HostsWelcome volunteers to the construction site. Site hosts create a welcoming environment for all volunteers, make sure that all volunteers sign-in, their paperwork is turned in and filed properly. Site hosts are needed for the first couple hours of each build day, particularly on Saturdays. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. A Site Host training session will be given May 24th. Trained hosts will be expected to volunteer multiple times a year. Please contact Nicole Kunzik at volunteers@habitatla.org for more information. Sign Up!
