A Brush with Kindness Committee

Contact: Jenny Isaacs, A Brush with Kindness Coordinator, jisaacs@habitatla.org

This committee will work with A Brush with Kindness, a new program in the community that enables low-income homeowners to make minor repairs on their homes with the help of volunteers.  The committee refers potential homeowners to the program, reviews applications, interviews and inspects homes, and works alongside able-bodied homeowners.  Members do not have to be bilingual but it is a plus.

Construction Committee

The Construction Committee functions to support the Construction staff and team by acting as advisors on construction management and technical issues, as a review team on proposed projects and plans, and/or as skilled leadership at the job site.  The Construction Committee typically meets monthly to review recent activity, update progress by ad hoc teams on specific tasks, and assist with new projects or challenges.  The committee is made up of 12-20 members with varying backgrounds and experience, each having some experience in architecture, engineering, construction, project management, quality control of safety. 

Faith Relations Committee

The Faith Relations Committee provides leadership and direction to the creation of a sustained program of identifying, soliciting, recruiting and retaining churches and faith-based organizations as involved partners.  The goal of the committee is to successfully increase visibility and awareness in the faith community as financial, volunteer and prayer partners with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.

Family Services Selection Committee

The committee is responsible for implementing the selection criteria used to select families for approval by the Board of Directors of HFH GLA.  The committee is also responsible for recommending policy revisions to the Board as needed, publicizing opportunities to prospective homeowners, developing an orientation program and application forms, screening applications, interviewing prospective families and recommending applicants to the Board.  members do not have to be bilingual but it is a plus.

Family Services Partnership Committee

The committee seeks to welcome new families into the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles family and to provide them with a mutual support system, educational opportunities and a forum for discussions regarding homeownership and relevant Habitat policies and procedures.  The committee is the primary liaison between the affiliate and the homeowner families.  It enables the affiliate to learn more from Habitat homeowners and thus constantly improve its program.  Members do not have to be bilingual but it is a plus. 

Site Aquisition Committee

Contact: Robert Dwelle, Director of Real Estate, rdwelle@habitatla.org 

This is a working committee responsible for acquiring future Habitat for Humanity project sites.  Each committee members will be assigned a sub area of the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles service area and will be responsible for identifying potential sites in their assigned area.  Meetings will be held the second Tuesday of the month from noon to 1:30 pm and will involved each member presenting their sites to the committee for discussion.
